Daylight Savings Time-Spring Forward!

Similar to traditional holidays, I anticipate D.S.T. in the Spring for months!

It begins with the count down’

1 month, 2 weeks, 1 week — Bingo! The clocks take a big leap forward 1 hour and the next day gives us the gift of more precious daylight.

I cherish the daylight. I’m a classic morning person- even when lacked with sleep, the sun pops out, and I’m awake, alive and grateful.

The morning gives us hope for another chance to live our best life and I can’t give up on hope.

A month prior, I remind everyone I encounter that there’s something to look forward to — longer daylight. They respond with a surprise happy lilt, “Really?”, then a sigh of relief.

Winter — even for people who do not live in serious cold weather, are ready to end the dark winter days.

I’m aware the “Changing-of-the-Clocks’, may end, but for now, I contemplate on how we could celebrate.

Celebration D.S.T. Day — Morning
Dawn: Hike up a mountain, forest, park, or the rooftop of a building.

Sunrise: A breakfast picnic;
Fresh Orange juice — a toast to the sun.
Warm Egg sandwich on a ciabatta roll
Hot coffee or tea- with milk & honey & cinnamon.
Buttery Blueberry Scone

Celebration D.S.T. Day — Afternoon
Library, Community Center, Local Park, Playground, Cafe, Porches, anywhere there’s a place for people to gather.

Poetry/art workshop: Led by local poets-artist (and get paid!)

Book Readings:
All you need is a microphone and a table of books; (video for prosperity)
Life before the lightbulb
Edison & the discovery of electricity
Solar — embracing the Sun!
Wind energy — embracing the Wind!

Celebration D.S.T. Day — Evening
Storytelling; Presented by the local theater community.
Campfire: Stories, songs & a potluck dinner

Today is Sunday, March 14th, we lost an hour, and I went to bed late last night so I’m tired, but, until the Fall comes upon us, and we reverse the clocks back an hour — I’ll embrace the longer daylight with relish.
